In short

Asterism collects no personal data and sends nothing anywhere. The app has no permission to access the internet.

In detail

No data collection. No personal data is collected, processed or shared with third parties. There is no account, no sign-in and no registration.

No internet access. The app does not request the permission android.permission.INTERNET and therefore cannot connect to the internet. There is no server of mine it could talk to: no backend, no accounts, no synchronisation. All puzzles ship inside the app.

No tracking, no ads, no analytics. No analytics, advertising or crash-reporting libraries are included.

Progress and settings. Solved puzzles, your ratings, the nights of "Tonight's sky" you solved (by date), a puzzle you left half-way, the last puzzle you opened, which rule cards you have already seen and your settings are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. They are excluded from Android's cloud backup, so they never leave the device. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

Permissions. The app requests a single permission: android.permission.VIBRATE, for short haptic feedback when you place a star or dark sky. No permission for location, contacts, camera, microphone, storage or phone.

Google Play. The app is distributed through Google Play. Google may process data when you download or update it, under Google's privacy policy. Google Play may also show me aggregated, anonymous statistics about installs, crashes and app performance; these do not identify you.

Purchases. This version contains no purchases. This policy will be updated before a version with purchases is released.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Articles 15 to 21 GDPR) and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. As the app stores no personal data with me, there is usually nothing I could provide information about.

Changes

This policy will be updated before a version is released that changes anything described here.
